Everything Is Connected

We started with a small batch of hand block-printed cotton cambric from India.

We weren’t sure at first. It’s light (almost sheer) and we wondered if it would feel too delicate. But once our friends and family started wearing it, especially in the summer heat, the feedback was immediate. They loved it. It’s breathable, soft, and moves with you. 

So we went back to our supplier to order almost twice as much as the first round.

Then the shipping quote came in. It was more than three times what we paid before.

We asked why, and this was the response: Due to war in the region, oil prices have increased significantly. Flights are limited. Air routes have changed and are longer, increasing fuel costs.

Here we are, a small company in Nashville, trying to make something thoughtful and lasting, and suddenly we’re feeling the effects of global conflict, fuel markets, and airspace restrictions halfway around the world.

Everything is connected.

So we’re figuring it out as we go. We’re moving toward a made-to-order model to reduce waste and avoid overproduction. We’re pinching every penny. We’re making decisions slowly and intentionally.

We’re trying to build something honest that brings a little ease and joy into people’s lives, and maybe, in a small way, reminds us how connected we all are. Across countries, across circumstances, across everything.
